Mariah's "Global Christmas Extravaganza

As part of Deutsche Telekom's international "Life Is For Sharing" campaign, they have teamed up with Mariah Carey to bring a little T-magic to thousands of people across Europe.

In a bold feat never attempted before on this scale, Deutsche Telekom/T-mobile international hosted 5 simultaneous live holographic concerts across 5 European cities last Thursday, November 17. The official video of the stunt can now be viewed below!

Embracing the Christmas spirit, in the safest way, each person at the concert was given a qr code which linked to an interactive candle for their phones.

Is that Mimi or a backing track? I will reserve my opinion for the time being...

Talk That Flop! Canadians own the Billboard 200 chart

As previously predicted by Stonewinner Entertainment Rihanna has once again failed to make that infamous No.1 spot her own! Her 6th studio album "Talk that Talk" managed to sell an impressive (not) 197,000 copies in the US in its debut week thus landing at No.3 on the chart.

Talk that flop was bested by two Canadian acts in what has been one of the tightest races for the No.1 position in Billboard 200 history. The number one album in the states this week was Michael Buble's "Christmas" selling 227,000. Interestingly the difference between "Christmas" and the No.2 album "Here and Now" by Nickelback was a 0.18 percent margin!

Another Canadian, Drake, occupies the No.4 spot with "Take Care" while totally irrelevant Mary J Blige will just have to be content with the No.5 spot.

THATISALL!

Kelly Rowland-Motivation- Song of the year!

This month (17/11/2011) we celebrated the 2011 Soul Train Music awards at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. One would swear I decided on the winners if we look at how the evening panned out!

Michael Buble' v Nickelback!

As Christmas rapidly approaches any good artist/entrepreneur knows that its the best time of the year to release an album as you are almost guaranteed the best possible commercial reception. So true to form the Billboard 200 will be flooded with a handful of major releases this coming week.

There is something for everyone in this weeks releases from Michael Buble', Rihanna, Mary J Blige and Nickelback and Daughtry. Michael delivers this years biggest Christmas LP, a smart move indeed, as past trends have shown each year has one major Christmas LP dominate the chart like no other (remember Josh Groban, and Su Bo?). Rihannas delivers her 6th studio album titled "Talk That Talk" almost exactly a year since she released "Loud", a number 1 album has eluded Riri on all 5 previous attempts and alas it appears "Talk" is not about to upset that trend! Dont worry Riri you are the singles queen and ""We Found Love " remains at the penthouse position of the Hot 100.

According to the numbers as they stand right now the competition for that number one spot is between Michael and Nickelback each expected to sell around 250000 to 270000 units, Riri is expected to sit at No.3. By the way, is anybody even checking for Mary J anymore?

Mommy Mariah's New Music

True to the promises she made to her lambs Ms Touch My Body Carey is hard at work on her new album set for release in 2012! There is  a lot riding on this album for the mother of twins considering her "Memoirs" album struggled to make any impact commercially and is practically forgotten by now.

Adding to the expectations of this album is a statement by Mimi in a recent Jenny Craig interview in which she claim pregnancy made her voice stronger. I for one feel that there is truth to this statement if one listens to her second Christmas album which was simply a great piece of work which i must confess is still play all year round!

My advice would be to forget the past Mims (Memoirs was supposed to be a throwback to the Butterfly album) and just bring a true stonewinner of an album that only you, the Queen can deliver. Dont trý to compete with the 5 minute of relevance music produced by today's pop stars, just deliver real music with world class vocals. If Adele has taught as anything its that you can keep all your clothes on and still outsell the naked Rihanna's and Beyonce's. Stay dressed Mimi!!!

American Music Awards Winners.

The American Music Awards started off the annual awards season with a star studded line up and performances from the years most talented chart toppers. Much like every other year the award show gave us all a taste of the most likely names to be announced when the Grammy awards have its annual night in February next year.

Am I the only one who finds these shows quite boring and rather predictable? like seriously, why dont they just have an award for who showed the most breast and who can shake their thighs better than the next?

Featured Artist- Melanie Amaro

I have not had a featured artist for a while, mostly due to not finding any talent worth sharing but alas the US version of X-factor (the little known show that gave the world Leona Lewis) has provided us all with a refreshing  new talent.

My new inspiration comes in the form of 19 year old Florida native Melanie Amaro. In her first live show she sang Whitney Houstons "Ï have nothing", the song is somewhat of a reality singing competition favourite albeit a rather difficult song to sing, Melanie however killed it! predictably so though as her voice is typically RnB inclined  however she received great comments from the judges and the music media in general. Her shining moment however came the following week when she took on The Eagles classic hit "Desperado" and brought the proverbial house down!!!

I definitely think Melanie is someone to look out for in the future whether she wins the competition or not. Stonewinner entertainment is thus fully backing Ms Amaro for the final, well that and countless albums of good quality music (a boy can dream okay)!

On that note fellow male contestant Marcus Canty is not to be discounted in any way and deserves to be in that final with Melanie, but you will be reading more about him in due course...

The link to her performance of  Desperado is below for your listening pleasure:

RIP BILLBOARD CHARTS

As a child who grew up in the 90's I remember the time when music had substance and artists would sell records without resorting to nudity and gimmicks.  During this time to have your album or single chart at the top of any Billboard chart was the most significant achievement any artist could hope for in light of the months of hard work put into making a record. That is of course because during this time artists actually put effort into the music they sold to us, unlike 2011 when the Rihanna's of the world churn out a album in two weeks and every track sounds more generic than the next? Seriously!

Hence I believe the time has come to bid a fare farewell to the Billboard charts as we knew them. There is simply no credibility left in the charting system or the artists who chart on them. Piracy and well, general poor taste of the youth of today has led to the demise of this once celebrated symbol of music achievement!

BYE BYE BILLBOARD!
