An open letter to Mariah Carey

Dear Mariah Carey

I recently subjected myself to the displeasure that is Justin Biebers cover of your all time Xmas classic "All I want for xmas is you". After listening to the track which is easily the most pointless cover of the song have yet to hear, I decided to see if the music video could possibly save the dreaded mess of a cover.

There I saw it, horror of horrors, you standing against a wall in the shortest red number ever doing what can only be described as selling your private parts like a common New York hooker! WTF? Seriously! Need I remind you that you are Mariah freaking Carey, the best selling female artist of all time, owner of the greatest vocals ever bestowed on a human being and mother of two!!!

So for crying in a bucket will you start acting like the legend that you are! At the age of 42 you have accomplished more in your career than most of today's pop artists could even dream of but if you are going to persist on cheapening yourself like a pop tart then people will simply perceive you that way.

Sincerely

An irritated fan

P.S You should not even be considering doing collaborations with the like of Justin Biebers.

Mariah's "Global Christmas Extravaganza

As part of Deutsche Telekom's international "Life Is For Sharing" campaign, they have teamed up with Mariah Carey to bring a little T-magic to thousands of people across Europe.

In a bold feat never attempted before on this scale, Deutsche Telekom/T-mobile international hosted 5 simultaneous live holographic concerts across 5 European cities last Thursday, November 17. The official video of the stunt can now be viewed below!

Embracing the Christmas spirit, in the safest way, each person at the concert was given a qr code which linked to an interactive candle for their phones.

Is that Mimi or a backing track? I will reserve my opinion for the time being...

Mommy Mariah's New Music

True to the promises she made to her lambs Ms Touch My Body Carey is hard at work on her new album set for release in 2012! There is  a lot riding on this album for the mother of twins considering her "Memoirs" album struggled to make any impact commercially and is practically forgotten by now.

Adding to the expectations of this album is a statement by Mimi in a recent Jenny Craig interview in which she claim pregnancy made her voice stronger. I for one feel that there is truth to this statement if one listens to her second Christmas album which was simply a great piece of work which i must confess is still play all year round!

My advice would be to forget the past Mims (Memoirs was supposed to be a throwback to the Butterfly album) and just bring a true stonewinner of an album that only you, the Queen can deliver. Dont trý to compete with the 5 minute of relevance music produced by today's pop stars, just deliver real music with world class vocals. If Adele has taught as anything its that you can keep all your clothes on and still outsell the naked Rihanna's and Beyonce's. Stay dressed Mimi!!!

Mariah Careys set to Inspire Positive change in the world

Jermaine Dupri announced today that he and Mariah Carey will lead an effort to produce a musical collaboration encouraging people to step forward and commit to action to strengthen and improve our nation and the world. The inspiration for the song comes from Points of Light Institute, the largest enabler of voluntary action in the nation, an organization that inspires, equips and mobilizes people to take action that changes the world.

According to Dupri, music is a powerful vehicle to bring about togetherness and understanding, with an ability to reach people in ways that words alone cannot. "There's a lot happening in the world right now. We hope to create something special with other great musicians that moves people and can make them understand they CAN do something positive to make their lives and the world better."

Who: Jermaine Dupri and Mariah Carey will co-write the song, performing it along with a host of other artists.

What: A multi-genre coming together of musicians to create and produce a breakthrough song to create a sense of urgency that the time is now to step forward toward a renewal of spirit and commitment to action that makes our nation and world better.

When: The collaboration will be produced during the Grammy's this weekend.

Where: Various Los Angeles-based studios

Why: Americans across the country are committing themselves to solving the problems that face our nation and the world. Dedicated individuals across the country are raising their hands and contributing to solutions in their communities through voluntary action. It is time to bring our nation's leaders and corporations together with its youth, artists, entertainers and all people to reignite the fire of the American spirit of service and express our connection with all people in the world.

Trash vs Talent

So this is my very first post and folks it aint a happy one! I just saw an advert on television for the Grammy awards which will take place on the 14th of February, it is an evening for the crème de la crème of the music industry to get together, walk the red carpet and celebrate the chart and sales achievements for the past year! Simple enough. NOT! The process begins with members and record companies submitting entries, which are then screened for eligibility and category placement. The Academy's voting members, all involved in the creative and technical processes of recording, then participate in (1) the nominating process that determines the five finalists in each category; and (2) the final voting process which determines the GRAMMY winners. That said I feel the need to begin my tirade on why the most talented musician in the industry, with a career spanning more than 20 years, 18 #1 hits and the illustrious title of "best selling female recording artist of all time" has accumulated all of FIVE Grammy awards, while a certain thigh shaking screamer who honestly makes what I call ringtone music has about 15 awards. Clearly talent is no longer a consideration in determining winners and thus I have not watched the awards show since 2005! So imagine my surprise when I decided to peruse this years nominees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Long story short, the situation has actually worsened people. In the category for Album of the Year, Katy Perry's Teenage Dream has notched a nomination while The Element of Freedom by Alicia Keys gets snubbed??? SERIOUSLY!
